SAE Institute Staff Member Directs Debut Music Video for The Merry-Go-Rounds(April 04, 2014)
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) April 04, 2014
Katie Flint, an administrator at SAE Institutes Atlanta campus, is the director of the debut music video PB&JAM by Atlanta-based indie band The Merry-Go-Rounds. The video was among 16 finalists in the Short Cuts Film Contest, which was held on March 3 at the Plaza Theater in Atlanta. The competition featured five-minute films that showcased Atlanta musicians and was presented by Creative Loafing, an award-winning alternative weekly newspaper that covers Atlantas news, culture, contemporary music, and the arts.
Flints video was created by Slightly Twisted Productions, an all-female crew comprised of students and alumni of Georgia Institute of Technology. She graduated from Georgia Tech in December 2013, majoring in Science, Technology and Culture with a concentration in media and a minor in French.
The Merry-Go-Rounds consists of 12 talented musicians, all of whom are undergrads or grad students at Georgia Tech, says Flint. Their musical style is twee rock meets Of Monsters and Men. Its a really interesting sound thats a lot of fun to listen to, and the video really captures their energy.
Along with her work as a director, Katie is also a music journalist. Her reviews and essays have appeared in a variety of top tier music sites, including Creative Loafing, The Blue Indian, Live for Live Music, Georgia Jukebox, and GA Followers.
Working at SAEs Atlanta campus is a great way to meet up-and-coming music production talent, says Flint. Our Audio Technology Program is training tomorrows top engineers for careers in music, TV, film, gaming, and live audio. Im sure that Ill run across our grads creations in my work as a journalist and maybe even as a director of their artists music videos.
