Sennheiser Launches Esfera 5.1 Surround Microphone System at CABSAT 2014Esfera is the industry's first system that allows the recording of 5.1 surround sound from a wireless camera (March 11, 2014)
DUBAI, UAE: The Sennheiser Group, one of the world's leading manufacturers of microphones, headphones and wireless transmission systems, today unveiled its Esfera 5.1 surround microphone system at CABSAT, the Middle East and Africa's largest broadcast digital media and satellite expo. An audio leader in the broadcast sector, Sennheiser is also demonstrating its entire range of wired and wireless solutions including its latest microphones, studio monitors and its flagship Digital 9000 system, an industry benchmark in wireless microphone technology. This comprehensive portfolio of solutions meets the audio needs of broadcast, studio and live production and has been drawing a large number of attendees to the company's stand at the event.
With the Middle East now playing host to numerous international sporting events, Sennheiser's launch of the Esfera system is a well-aimed attempt to gain market share in the rapidly growing segment. Ryan Burr, Technical Sales Manager at Sennheiser Middle East said, "Live sporting venues will particularly benefit from Esfera's ability to deliver reliable and uncomplicated 5.1 HD audio. The system can be quickly installed and supports an extensive range of customizable deployment scenarios. Furthermore, it offers the flexibility of converting the two audio channels to 5.1 either onsite or after transmission to local broadcasters."
Esfera provides 5.1 surround sound from just two channels. The system consists of a high-quality stereo microphone, designed with Sennheiser's renowned RF condenser technology and a 19" rack-mount processing unit that converts the stereo signal into a complete 5.1 signal. The compact size of the microphone unit and the versatile connectivity of the processing unit ensure that Esfera can easily be integrated into existing workflows. As the system only occupies two of the four audio inputs on broadcast cameras, it allows crews to also work with other microphones such as clip-on and boom microphones. Furthermore, Esfera is also the first system that allows the recording of 5.1 surround sound from a wireless camera.
Sennheiser believes its participation at CABSAT is vital to establishing and maintaining is relationships with regional customers and partners. In fact, the company is exhibiting at the booth of its pro audio distributor Venuetech, with which it works very closely both within the UAE and regionally. In addition to its line of audio solutions, Sennheiser is also demonstrating products from Georg Neumann GmbH, part of the Sennheiser Group. This includes Neumann?s new TLM-107 'all-rounder' studio microphone.
Commenting on the value of the company's participation at the event, Ryan Burr said, "The exhibition is an opportunity for professionals to get a bit of hands-on time with the pinnacle of wireless microphone technology, the Digital 9000 system. The Middle East is a massive market and although we regularly conduct road-shows and partner events, it is not always possible to have the desired amount of face time with existing and potential partners. CABSAT is a great opportunity to meet all the key industry players in a professional environment that allows us to highlight our latest advances."
