Tritton Technologies AX 720 Gaming headphones 2-channel surround sound and Dolby Digital headphone technology By John Virata

Time to upgrade your old gaming headphone? Then put your ears on the new Tritton AX 720s from Tritton Technologies. This headphone features Dolby Digital and Dolby headphone technology to ensure high quality two channel surround sound.

The AX 720 headphone features a removable microphone, adjustable head roll, 40mm balanced audio drivers, and velvet earpads. The AX 720 is designed specifically for xBox and Sony Playstation 3 systems, but is also compatible with both Macintosh and Windows computers, making them an ideal all purpose gaming solution regardless of the platform you are on. The headset has USB mic support for online chat, an xBox live communications port for team play online, dual headset jacks, and a breakaway cable that has built in chat volume adjustment, mute switch, fibre optic digital audio connections for pure digital sound, game volume adjustment, AMP/PC switch, and the xBox live port.

It features -97db THD, singal to noise ratio of 106db, a 8khz-192kHz sampling frequency and 25-22kHz frequency response. The system also features a Digital Audio Control Box with dual headphone outputs and selectable movie, game and music modes.  The headphones feature 12.5 feet of cabling so you can position yourself fairly freely in front of the television set or PC.

The Tritton Technologies AX 720 headphone system outputs a fairly stellar sound. Although not the loudest headphones I've used, they are definitely one of the clearest sounding, which I will take over loudness every time. WHile they aren't your boom box blasting speakers with big bass, the bass is still respectable for a headphone. The headphone itself seems to be on the heavy side, but the headphone foam is still very comfortable, and the headphone is adjustable as well. Twelve feet of wire is quite a bit to get around, but at least there is a built in velcro lanyard to keep it all organized. The AX 720s are currently availabnle exclusively at Best Buy for $129 MSRP. Included is a one year warranty.
